Help grow strong youth with the Boy Scouts of America.

Scouting endures because it encourages lifelong learning. Fun activities that equip youth with the skills to become tomorrow’s leaders, coupled with character-building values, remain at Scouting’s core. By challenging individuals of all ages to reach their full potential, Scouting strengthens individuals, families and the communities.

Creating a solid financial base is an important part of an excellent Scouting program. The Pony Express Council is dependent upon individual and corporate gifts to meet programming expenses. By donating to the Pony Express Council, you can give the youth in our community the chance to experience what Scouting has to offer.

Financial resources for the Pony Express Council come from an annual Friends of Scouting (FOS) campaign, local United Ways, foundation grants, special events, project sales, investment income, trust funds, bequests, gifts of real and personal property, and your direct financial contributions.

You can make a direct financial contribution to the Pony Express Council online with your credit card or electronic check. There are several programs you can use as a contribution vehicle or you may just make a direct general Friends of Scouting contribution.

Each year the Pony Express Council conducts a Friends of Scouting (FOS) campaign to raise unrestricted operating dollars to cover, in part, the annual expenses involved in the operations of our council. We have known for years that there are individuals, businesses, corporations, and trusts that desire to create and maintain a connection with the council through the giving of financial resources to Scouting. The unrestricted financial gifts are given with the understanding that the council will use these dollars as needed to ensure the continuation of a quality Scouting program for the youth in our area.

The dollars raised through this Campaign allow us to keep activity costs to a minimum, operate a Service Center to support our youth and leaders, and provide a trained professional field staff who work directly with our Scout and district leaders.

A gift to the Pony Express Council memorial/tribute fund is a thoughtful way to express respect, gratitude, and sincere affection. Your gift honoring a loved one, friend, and others in times of sadness or joy will enrich the lives of youth served by our council.

Endowment Funds

As you prepare long-term financial and estate plans, please remember what Scouting has done for you or someone you know. Your gift to one of the Pony Express Council’s endowment funds will help ensure that our local programs will continue to grow leaders of every age. To help honor the donor’s interests and wishes, the Pony Express Council maintains these designated endowment funds:

  • Boy Scout Trust Fund – a permanently restricted fund for gifts to be managed in perpetuity. Investment income is used for general operating expenses.
  • Camp Geiger Trust Fund – a temporarily restricted fund for gifts to be used for improvements and the maintenance of Camp Geiger
  • Dog Soldier Trust Fund – a permanently restricted fund for gifts to be managed in perpetuity for the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.
  • BSA Service Center Trust Fund - a temporarily restricted fund for gifts to be used for maintenance of the Pony Express Council’s Service Center.

You are encouraged to discuss your giving plans with your legal and financial advisor(s). A representative of the Pony Express Council or BSA National Office is available to meet with you, as necessary.
