“Pony Express Council Staff Retirements”

After many years if dedicated service to the youth and volunteers of the Pony Express Council and the greater Scouting movement, Shirley Piatt and John Clawson have made the decision to retire from their careers with the Boy Scouts of America. Shirley and John will be missed very much. On behalf of the entire staff of the Pony Express Council we wish Shirley and her husband Richard and John and DeeDee the best in their retirement.

Shirley has served in the council since January 6th, 1987, most recently serving as the registrar. Her 34 years of dedication will be missed by many. One could only imagine how many lives Shirley has positively impacted throughout Scouting during her time with the Council. Her dedication has been a true value to all of us.

We will be hosting an open house celebration on Monday June 28th from 3:30pm – 5:30pm here at the Scout Service Center. Volunteers, friends, and family are welcome and encouraged to stop in for cake and refreshments and spend time with Shirley before her last day on June 30th, 2021.

If volunteers and friends would like to drop off a card at the Scout office or write a special thought about Shirley, please stop by the Scout office. We will have an area in the front lobby to do so.

John and DeeDee will be retiring on December 31st
2021. John has served the youth and volunteers in the Pony Express Council and the greater Scouting movement for 32 years starting as a District Executive and most recently serving as the Ranger. John’s oversight and leadership to Camp Geiger and the council has been a true asset and has helped position Camp Geiger to be a leading summer camp throughout the BSA.

We will host and open house reception for John and DeeDee later in the fall, watch for more info
